Description
“Sea Vixen” is a two-tailed dual-engine fighter developed by Hawk Sidley in the late 1950s. It is the first type of swept wing of the British Naval Air Force, a ship-borne fighter aircraft with a complete weapon system and a missile as its main weapon. Its maximum speed can reach 936 km / h.
The Sea Vixen is the first carrier-based fighter aircraft in the UK with a complete weapon system. Its AI.18 air interceptor radar was developed by GEC with a range of approximately 32 kilometers; the pylon under the wing can carry up to four Firestreak air-to-air missiles, or a total of 907 kilograms of bombs, and two under the nose. The rocket launcher has 28 50mm air-to-air rockets inside. The later improved (FAW-2) also has the launch capability of the Red Top air-to-air missile and the Bullpup air-to-ground missile. The red-headed missile is a development type of fire.
In 1972, the last “Sea Female Fox” squadron was disbanded. The F-4 fighter aircraft introduced from the United States replaced its mission.
